The Day I Restored My Faith In Humanity

Have faith

Dear friends,

How do I start writing this post? How do I even begin writing about one of the most important days of my life?

Yesterday was Voting Day in Romania, my dear country, a day when the voice of the people was heard loud and clear across the globe, shouting a message of hope and faith for a better future.

Yesterday was that day when I took my little one by the hand (she’s 2 years and a 1/2 now) and marched on the streets of Bucharest with young people like you and me, in an act of solidarity for all our brave Romanians abroad, who were denied a fundamental right granted by law and constitution: the right to vote.

We joined forces and took a stand for all these years of constant fraud, injustice, corruption and humiliation. At the end of the day, we were given the best gift after all these years: a new President and a new Beginning.

I am proud to say that I woke up this morning in a different Romania – one of hope, of joined efforts, of humanity and of willpower, one that is ready to create a brighter future for us and our children.

It was way easier to stay at home, to hide under the covers, to shrug our shoulders and say:”Nothing good will happen. We are hopeless & helpless. C’est la vie!” But we chose differently this time.

I chose to get dressed and to march with my family on the cold (yet animated) streets of Bucharest, not knowing that before midnight all of our prayers would be answered. I chose to join like-minded people in an attempt to change our destiny as a nation and to write a new page in history. A new page that my daughter will be thankful for.

Yesterday our lives changed for the better, because for the first time in a long time “Us” was more important than “Me”.

I am happy and grateful to be living in these turbulent yet wonderful times. I know today, more than ever, that there is more to life than meets the eye and that each and everyone of us are given an amazing chance – every day – to be the creators of our own lives.

So, let your light shine through. Have faith and never, never give up on a dream. Nothing is impossible if you believe it with all your heart. Nothing is too much or too little. Every gesture, every effort and every little act counts.

For what is an ocean if not a multitude of drops? (*David Mitchell)

Sending much light & love your way,
