I’m over the moon…I’m so happy for this next interview.
I’ve told Dana this morning, that she’s like a breath of fresh air and that the interview you’re about to read, feels like a sunny day in Spring: playful, colorful, refreshing and bright.
That’s exactly how Dana is in real life: she has the sun in her eyes and a big rainbow in her heart. Full of life, full of laughter, positive, generous & supportive, intuitive and oh, so creative! And the list can go on and on.
It’s likely that you already know Dana and follow the beautiful work that she shares with the world.
Paris. New York. Milan. Fashion Week. She’s there to cover the latest trends in fashion and to get the best snapshots in street-styling.
Fashion. Design. Photography. Acting. Blogging. She puts her mark on various creative projects and has them coming one after another.
She’s a golden girl this one and I’m so grateful to have met her at the right time in my life. Needless to say, that I cherish and value her friendship a lot.
Okay, here it goes:
1// What is something you look forward doing every day?
Wake up! Live! Get the chance to learn new things. Hand writing. Imagine clothes on impossible perfect women. Do things, doesn’t matter what kind of things, just to do something with my time.
2// What is it about your life/work that brings sparks of excitement in your eyes?
New things: new collections, new ideas, new people, new jobs. Also getting things done and working with people. I love people!
3// What do you love most about your life and your work?
I love the fact that I don’t have to wake up in the morning, but I’m doing it anyway. I like that I can take long breaks in the middle of the day.
I like that I’m making peace with myself, I like the thrill and the panic when creating something new, I love to know I can inspire others, I like to take pictures, I like when things I only imagined are coming to life. Oh, and I really like that I don’t have a boss.
4// Inspiration. Creativity. Joie de vivre. And the most contagious laughter. In your case, you have plenty of everything. Where do they all come from?
I strongly believe in death. I know it sounds odd, but I know we’re all gonna die, so I want to get all I can while being here. I’m trying (it does not always happen) to ignore all the unimportant stuff.
I think happiness is a state of mind and I’m always gonna be a believer and an optimist.
5// Your creative process/ routine involves…
My creative process is a mess.
Sometimes I wake up in the middle of the night and write down an idea I dreamed of, sometimes I call people and talk about ideas, sometimes when I work on a photo or blog project, new ideas about my fashion brand are coming up and I need to switch my attention to that immediately so as to not lose a great idea.
But I do have some kind of routine though. Especially when it’s a big project, I need my peace of mind : silence, to be alone, to drink tea or coffee and to be in a place with natural light. Sometimes I also need a mantra singing in the background.
6// The not-so-great days. We all have them. How do you scratch self-doubt or procrastination from your list?
Ha ha, I usually let things happen as I feel, so I procrastinate. If it’s one of those busy, busy days and I cannot do the work, I read a few pages from some “self-help” book (I always have one opened around in my house or in my office) and pull myself together.
7// What is one of the biggest lessons you’ve learned over the years about life, work and running a business with soul?
I learned that even if the business you run is your “preferred child”, you should look at it with high amount of pragmatism, and, if there it’s something you can do better or you need to change something that’s wrong – do it, even if you think you will “hurt” your child. It is not your child you have to protect, it’s your business you have to grow.
8// When we first met, we both agreed that this year would be our year. Please complete the sentence: 2015 will be the year…
..of more action, less doubts and a better self. Also, the year of deep connections and love.
Wishing you a great day today, stay Zen & positive,
